Tomboy soaps are made from 100 percent pure vegetable and/or fruit oils (olive, coconut and/or palm), with further enrichment from extra-nutritious moisturizing oils like avocado, castor, jojoba and wheat germ. Further enhancement comes from ingredients renowned for their healing properties, from calming lavender to uplifting grapefruit to soothing shea butter, beeswax, cocoa butter and lanolin.

Each Tomboy fragrance is the result of a carefully concocted combination of select oils and essential oils - no heavy perfumes here!

Tomboy's Moonflower, for example, a sweetly scented, ethereally pale geranium-scented soap, is made from coconut, palm, apricot kernel and castor oils, geranium, rose geranium, rosewood, lavender, and palma rosa essential oils, and - the coup de grace! - Given its ethereal color by an ultramarine blue pigment. Herb Garden Scrub combines coconut, palm, avocado and castor oils with shea and coca butter; essential oils of rosemary, sage, lavandin and coriander; seaweed; wheat germ; aloe vera juice and chlorophyll.

Why Handcrafted?
Because handcrafted soap is less processed than commercial soap, more of its base oils' healing properties are available to your skin. Case in point: Glycerin, a natural byproduct of the soapmaking process, is a great skin emollient, attracting moisture to your skin and helping keep moisture in. Glycerin is so valuable, in fact, that most commercial soap companies remove glycerin from their soaps, going on to sell it as a totally separate commodity (sometimes to the explosives industry). The soap-user is the loser here, for soaps without their natural glycerin have lost a significant amount of skin-softening properties.

Handcrafted soap is made without the harsh chemicals, detergents or petroleum products that dry out the skin. Because they use natural and/or vegetable oils instead of animal fats, handcrafted soaps are less likely than commercial soaps to cause clogged pores.

Each batch of Tomboy soap is made using the cold process method, whereby the soap is exposed to less heat because it is not heated to boiling temperatures. Some oils - essential oils in particular - are sensitive to extreme heat, which causes them to lose much of the nourishment they can offer to your skin.
No fragrance or perfume oils scent Tomboy's bars; only pure essential oils in soothing combinations. Each soap bar features a unique variety of base oils combined with its own unique combination of herbs, spices, grains - even flower petals - for visual interest and exfoliation.
